Relay Access while Incarcerated
November 3rd, 2022 ~ The FCC recently announced it has adopted a rule to require most correctional facilities in the U.S. to provide deaf people who are incarcerated with access to video relay ASL interpreters or other relay services.

Deaf Self-Advocacy Training Toolkit
This specialized curriculum is devoted to teaching deaf individuals to self-advocate for effective interpreting services. The content of the curriculum includes concepts of self-esteem and self-determination, the law, ethics of working with interpreters, video relay interpreting, preparing for self-advocacy, and how to effectively tap resources. NAD Language Deprivation Documents
Research shows 70% of Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and Hard of Hearing children don’t have access to language. And it’s actually worse for BIPOC deaf children. Language deprivation is a devastating reality for many deaf children, and the NAD strongly believes this is a serious and urgent health crisis. The Language Equality and Acquisition for Kids (LEAD-K) Campaign aims to end language deprivation through information to families about language milestones and assessments that measure language milestone achievements, and data collection that holds our current education system accountable.
American Sign Language Teachers Association
ASLTA is a national, professional organization of ASL and Deaf Studies teachers established in 1975. ASLTA provides professional development, evaluation, certification, and networking for teachers of ASL and Deaf Studies and serves as a clearinghouse for information regarding the teaching of ASL and Deaf Studies.
